- CCV faculty member Kate Maynard recently had her poem “Low Tide” published in Kakalak 2021, a North Carolina literary anthology.
- CCV-Upper Valley CSA Erin Wetherell joined the board of Central Vermont Adult Basic Education (CVABE). After completion of the Vermont Leadership Institute program last year, Erin had the goal of joining a board with a mission that she supported. She now has the opportunity to help provide fiscal and policy oversight for CVABE, which develops, evaluates, and provides accessible literacy education for adults and teens.
- CCV-Bennington staff member Amanda Bates is opening her own massage therapy office in Bennington in January 2022. She will continue to work at CCV and plans to offer all CCV staff, faculty, and current students a 20% discount!
- CCV-Rutland CTL Catherine (Cat) Garland spoke at the PoLS-T Network Talk Series via Zoom in October. The talk, titled “Cultivating a Passion for Physics: Everyday Actions for Developing Your Students’ Physics Identity,” focused on the role of physics educators in learning how to help students construct their own physics identity where they can see themselves as physicists and grow their confidence.
- Mary Brodsky was hired as CCV’s first executive director of human resources, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Since stepping into her position, Mary has accompanied CCV President Joyce Judy on a listening tour, visiting academic centers and meeting with CCV staff.
- CCV participated in the October Job Fest hosted by the Vermont Department of Labor. The Job Fest, held in Bennington, offered CCV exposure to job seekers.
- CCV-Rutland student Matthew Stoddard was interviewed by the Rutland Herald for a story highlighting first-generation students. Elizabeth King, director of student and career services, also speaks of CCV’s TRIO program and the impact it has on CCV first-gen students.
- Former CCV student Quinn O’Reilly’s story of transitioning from the Marine Corps to nursing school was published in the Colchester Sun. Quinn took classes at CCV before transferring to the nursing program at UVM. At CCV, Quinn was a part of the SALUTE Honor Society for veteran and military students.
