Coordinator of Academic Services Phil Crossman spoke at the South Royalton High School graduation ceremony on June 9th. Crossman is a former English teacher at the school, and taught the class of 2018 during their freshman year.
Brattleboro faculty member Duncan Hilton was honored as an Emerging Leader of Southern Vermont 2018 by the Southern Vermont Young Professionals. Hilton teaches career readiness through the Jobs for Independence program.
Fifteen students completed the Certified Production Technician (CPT) program at Hazelett Corporation in Colchester, and were honored at a June 5th graduation ceremony. The CPT is a nationally recognized credential in the field of advanced manufacturing.
St. Johnsbury graduate Mike Labounty was featured in the Caledonian Record for his donation to a local charity. Labounty and a friend raised $6,500 for St. Johnsbury’s Santa Fund, which provides Christmas gifts for local children.
CCV-Newport staff, students, and alumni marched in the Newport Centennial Parade on June 30th. The event was part of the City’s weekend-long celebration hosted by the Parks and Recreation department.
Center for Online Learning faculty member Laura Gannon-Murakami earned a graduate certificate in Learning Design and Technology from Harvard University in May. Gannon-Murakami teaches Introduction to Nutrition as well as Anatomy and Physiology, among other biology courses.
Faculty members Emily Gannon, David White, Kristie Bush, and Melissa Holmes received CCV’s 2018 Faculty Excellence Awards. They were honored at this year’s Faculty Summer Institute, held at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee on June 14th and 15th. Check out the full story here.
The CCV community celebrated the career and retirement of Eric Sakai, dean of academic technology and executive director of the Newport and St. Johnsbury academic centers. Faculty, staff, and friends gathered at CCV-Montpelier on June 29th to recognize Eric’s 33-year career at the College, and to wish him well in his retirement.
