Faculty member Stephanie Bush has a collection of oil paintings on display at the West Branch Gallery in Stowe. “Ladies in Waiting: The Vermont Dairy Cow” is an exhibit of large- and small-scale portraits of local cows. The show will be up through September 22nd. Bush teaches painting, drawing, and sculpture classes in Winooski.
Morrisville’s Man Up students are maintaining a vegetable garden at the center, where they’re growing everything from zucchini to melons to tomatoes. They have so far donated more than 100 pounds of produce to the Lamoille Community Food Share.
CCV founder Peter Smith read from his newest book, Free-Rang Learning in the Digital Age, at a Strolling of the Heifers Brown Bag Lunch event in Brattleboro on July 23rd.
Coordinator of academic services Tuipate Mubiay published an article in The Other Paper, South Burlington’s community newspaper. Mubiay also serves as a diversity coordinator at the Howard Center.
Director of Resource Development Aimee Stephenson participated in the 11th International Dragon Boat Federation Club Crew World Championships in Szeged, Hungary July 17th-22nd. Her team, “Fire,” was one of seven teams from Vermont to compete in the race.
CCV made appearances this summer at Thunder Road International Speedbowl, Devil’s Bowl Speedway, and the Vermont Lake Monsters. Staff members handed out swag, promoted STEM night at the Lake Monsters game, and answered questions about CCV programs.
CCV-Upper Valley hosted a Prior Learning Assessment panel August 2nd. Alumni from a variety of fields spoke about their experience and answered questions about the program, which allows students to earn college credit for knowledge gained through workplace, military, or volunteer experiences.
Faculty member Will Costello contributed photos to an ESPN feature story by the sports network’s senior writer Steve Wulf. “As Strong as Mom: How Sports Helped a Family Heal” was published this spring. Costello teaches photography in Rutland.
Former CCV president and VSCS chancellor Tim Donovan is partnering with a friend on a walk across his home state of Iowa this month. Check out their blog to follow the adventure!
