MONTPELIER, Vt. — Community College of Vermont (CCV)-Montpelier student Marcus Carr has been awarded a $130 scholarship to cover the cost of the Pharmacy Technician Certification exam fee from Walgreens and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
“I am honored to receive this scholarship to further my goals in becoming a pharmacist,” said Carr. “I would like to thank Walgreens and Phi Theta Kappa for this scholarship, and appreciate that I am a recipient.” Carr is working toward an associate degree in STEM studies and a pharmacy technician certificate.
The Walgreens Pharmacy Technician Certification Scholarship recognizes Phi Theta Kappa members who are enrolled in allied health or pharmacy technician programs and intend to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification exam. Carr is one of 30 students selected to receive this award.
The scholarship application is open year-round, and winners are selected twice a year, in the spring and the fall. Up to 65 awards are given each year.
“We at CCV would like to congratulate Marcus on his recent selection for Phi Theta Kappa’s Walgreens Pharmacy Technician Certification Scholarship!” said Tiffany Walker, associate dean of workforce education at CCV. “With only 30 students selected, we understand how selective this process was. We are pleased that CCV is able to offer coursework such as the pharmacy technician program that can prepare Vermont’s healthcare workforce for the future. We look forward to seeing Marcus in our community pharmacy soon.”
