CCV Student Receives $1,000 Legacy Scholarship

MONTPELIER, Vt. — Community College of Vermont (CCV) student Dakoda Carter has been selected as the recipient of CCV’s 2019 Legacy Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The Legacy Scholarship is given annually in honor of a current or former CCV faculty or staff member whose work has had a profound impact on students and colleagues. This year’s scholarship is given in honor of Pamela Chisholm, who retired in May 2019 after 17 years at CCV.

Chisholm came to CCV from Vermont Student Assistance Corporation and served as CCV’s director of financial aid before becoming dean of enrollment services. She is recognized for her significant positive influence on financial aid throughout the state, and her dedication to making a college education possible for all Vermonters.

“For nearly four decades, two of them at CCV, Pam was a strong and passionate advocate for students,” said CCV Director of Financial Aid Ryan Dulude. “CCV’s mission was at the center of her work in helping thousands of Vermonters to realize their education goals and be successful in their careers. We’re so proud to channel Pam with this Legacy Scholarship and help Dakoda in pursuing her goals.”

Carter is a student at CCV’s Springfield academic center and is pursuing an associate degree in liberal studies. “This scholarship meant that I was able to continue on with my degree, because without financial aid, I would not be able to attend college at all,” she said. Carter was honored at a luncheon last week with Chisholm and CCV President Joyce Judy.

“Throughout her career, Pam kept students at the heart of her work,” said Judy. “Her belief that cost should not be a barrier to opportunity has helped thousands of students achieve their dream of earning a college degree. Pam’s legacy at CCV, and throughout the state, is about ensuring that all Vermonters can envision and realize that dream.”
