CCV Receives VT Community Foundation Funding to Support Bennington County Youth

Community College of Vermont (CCV) has received a $4,000 grant from the Vermont Community Foundation’s Opportunity Fund for Southshire Youth. The grant will support CCV’s Emerging Leaders Continuum, a project that aims to ensure successful transitions from high school to college.

For many businesses in Vermont, protecting the environment is a key aspect of daily operations. To support companies interested in becoming more sustainable, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Community College of Vermont (CCV) are teaming up to offer a free class focused on green manufacturing and production.

CCV Receives VT Community Foundation Funding for Prison-to-Career Program

Community College of Vermont has been awarded $17,750 from the Vermont Community Foundation to support ReSET VT, a prison-to-career initiative that offers college classes to male inmates at the Northern State Correctional Facility (NSCF) in Newport.

Impacting Vermont

In 2020, CCV will celebrate 50 years of serving Vermont. In anticipation of this milestone, the College conducted an impact study with the economic modeling company Emsi in order to better understand the value of the College to Vermont’s students, taxpayers, and society as a whole.

In downtown Rutland a few weeks before Christmas, a CCV student walked into the West St. academic center. She was wrapping up the fall semester and looking ahead to more classes in the spring. But she was also struggling with more than the usual pre-holiday stress: she had just lost her job.

The largest county in Vermont is growing—barely. Between 2009 and 2015, the total population of Chittenden County grew by 5.8%. Meanwhile, the county’s foreign born population grew by 34.7%.
