Alumni News – September 2021

We’re pleased to share the September edition of updates from alumni about what they’ve done since graduating from CCV. Alumni are encouraged to share their news by filling out the alumni update form.

Rebecca Tomaszewski ’14, Human Services
Northern Vermont University ’17, Psychology
Rebecca has been working from home for the past year as a Reach Up case manager II for the Department for Children and Families. She works remotely while caring for her two young children and pursuing her master’s degree clinical mental health counseling, a true test of resilience and determination to be successful in all facets of life. 

Becky Fox ’14, Human Services
Universal Classes (Geriatrics) 
Becky has been working for Age Well as a senior companion for five years, along with her therapy dog Lovey. Since graduating, she’s also taken classes in Advocacy for Elderly Patients, Aging and Long Term Care 101, Caring for Seniors, Alzheimer’s Disease 101, and End of Life Care. Becky is also on the board of directors for the Lions Club, is involved in several food programs, and is thrilled to say that she is an alumni of CCV.

Jacky Davis ’15, Liberal Studies
Missouri State University ’20, Masters of Science in Early Childhood and Family Development
As a single mother of two, it took Jacky a long time to complete her associate degree, and by the time she reached her final semester, she was emotionally done with school. That was when she took Seminar in Educational Inquiry with Telly Halkias, a tough instructor who ultimately changed her life when he told her she was too intelligent to stop her education at an associate degree. After some consideration, Jacky decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree from Johnson State College, and then completed a master’s degree in early childhood and family development from Missouri State University. She is currently operating a child care program from her home, is married, and recently became a grandmother.

Jeremy Betit ’15, Business
Champlain College ’20, Master of Business Administration
After earning an associate degree from CCV, Jeremy continued his education at Champlain College, completing his bachelor’s degree in 2019 summa cum laude. He also earned his MBA in August 2020 with a 4.0 GPA. Jeremy’s goal is to start teaching online classes at CCV and/or Champlain College.

Micki Colbeck ’16, Environmental Studies
Antioch University New England ‘18, Master of Science
Micki currently serves on two boards, the Strafford Conservation Committee and the Alliance for Vermont Communities (AVC). The AVC mission is to prevent fragmentation of land to development by helping preserve the farms and forests of Vermont. AVC is presently helping young farmers find access to land for practicing sustainable agriculture.

Abigail Fowler ’17, Liberal Studies
Castleton University ‘19, Business Administration 
After graduating in 2019, Abigail started working with the VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region as a recruiter. She helped the organization build a successful wellness committee, and after a year with the agency, she was promoted to HR generalist. Abigail also guides snowshoe tours in Killington on the weekends with Bear Trax adventures, which she started doing in her senior year at Castleton and loved it too much to quit. In March of last year, Abigail joined the board of directors at the Rutland Area Food Co-op.

Kierstan McConnell ’16, Early Childhood Education
Northern Vermont University ’21 (anticipated), Psychology 
Kierstan has been working toward her bachelor’s in psychology at NVU online with an anticipated graduation in fall 2021. She also is a small business owner and runs her own licensed home child care program.

Evan Antal ’16, Liberal Studies
Vermont Law School ’21, Juris Doctor – Magna Cum Laude 
Evan graduated from law school, took the bar, and has been hired as an associate attorney at Marsicovetere & Levine Law Group, P.C. in White River Junction.

Amela Jasarevic ’17, Criminal Justice
Johnson State College  ’17, Criminal Justice 
Amela has moved to Florida where she works as a private investigator for Convent Bridge out of Jacksonville.

Hannah Gale ’16, Human Services
Northern Vermont University  
After graduating from CCV, Hannah took some time off while her mother fought hard but eventually lost a battle with cancer. This last year, she started working toward a bachelor’s in professional studies at NVU, but recently had to step away again to prepare for the birth of a child. Hannah knows this pause is temporary as well, and plans on achieving her goal of obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
